If you have exhausted the many different methods to prevent destructive scratching behavior and have not had any success, declawing your kitty should only be considered as the last option.

The declawing procedure is very painful for your kitty. Younger cats tend to recover better but may still succumb to the general risks of surgery and post-surgery complications. Your kitty should live indoors only after surgery as they would not be able to defend themselves or climb a tree to get out of harm’s way.
