After earning a Bachelor’s in English and a Master’s in Philosophy, Dr. Stevenson decided to pursue her lifelong passion of helping animals. She received her veterinary degree from Virginia Tech in 2013 and immediately started practicing small animal medicine in a busy general and emergency practice in Virginia Beach. Eager to relocate to a small mountain town, Dr. Stevenson is thrilled to be joining the team at Lake Chatuge Animal Hospital.
While she enjoys all aspects of being a veterinarian, Dr. Stevenson’s special interests include abdominal and cardiac ultrasonography, internal medicine, cardiology, geriatric medicine, pain management and soft tissue surgery. With extensive training in ultrasound, she is excited to bring this important diagnostic modality to the clients of LCAH. Dr. Stevenson truly loves being a veterinarian and feels all patients should be treated as unique individuals with the love and care she offers her own pets.
She shares her home with her husband, Paul, a guitar teacher and portrait artist, and their three rescue dogs, a Malamute mix named Argos, a Shepherd mix named Bayard and a three-legged Lab mix named Takkun. Outside of work, Dr. Stevenson enjoys hiking, kayaking, white water rafting, playing guitar and reading.
