Jennifer E. Weldon (Jenny), DVM, was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida, with a keen sense of direction and perseverance. She knew from a very young age she was passionate about animal welfare, wished to become a veterinarian, and longed to live near lakes and mountains. Acceptance of a position at Lake Chatuge Animal Hospital landed her within walking distance of a lake and views of those mountains (and gives her parents a “destination”).
A 1998 Leon High School honor graduate, Jenny earned an undergraduate degree in Animal and Dairy Science (Pre-Vet) from Auburn University in 2002 where she was a member of Sigma Delta Agriculture Honor Society, Alpha Zeta Agriculture Fraternity, and the Auburn University Equestrian Team. Sticking with orange and blue, Jenny earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2008 from the University of Florida after which she served a one-year internship at Ferguson and Hammock Equine Hospital in Ocala, Florida. Jenny then accepted a position in Brooksville, Florida, with Chandelle Veterinary Associates, a large-animal practice, before returning to her hometown of Tallahassee in 2011 to work for Thomasville Animal Hospital, a small- and large-animal practice followed by Capital Circle Animal Hospital, a small-animal practice.
Jenny is pleased to have settled in Hayesville, NC, along with her beloved animal family: Joe - the cat; Annie - the rescue mutt; Strut and Swagger - the yellow labs; and horses, Reba and Mason.
