LAKE CHATUGE ANIMAL HOSPITAL, INC. WHERE WE TREAT YOUR PETS LIKE FAMILY

We completed the 2nd Halloween Costume Contest for Canine and Felines on 10/27/07 and it was a great deal of fun and very successful in raising some much needed funds. All proceeds go to the John Todd Jr. Good Samaritan Memorial Fund which is a pet memorial fund that is used to help families who encounter a pet health-care problem yet lack access to sufficient funds to cover the medical costs. An account has been established which is being funded predominately by donations provided by LCAH , its employees and clients. Additional outreach efforts like the Halloween costume contest are being held to help grow this account. Other efforts will include the introduction of a memorial garden and a Wall of Fame memoralizing exceptional pets. The Halloween pet costume contest serves as our main fund raiser.

We continue our educational and learning programs by celebrating again that the month of February 2008 is Pet Dental Health Care Month. Dental care is a very important part of our practice for the obvious reason that 85% of all dogs and cats that are 3 years of age or older have gingivitis, which is the first stage of dental disease that leads to periodontal disease, tooth loss and even systemic disease such as heart, liver and/or kidney infections. To encourage clients to take advantage of this opportunity, we will be providing 15% discounts on all dental services and products for the month of February upon client request. Contact our front office team to set up your appointments today.

We also are participating with AKC and Pfizer's National Canine Weight Check Month being held in February and March 2008. This is a pet obesity awareness campaign that allows for free pet weight checks and body condition assessments, and participating clients will also receive a nice gift and an opportunity to win a pet portrait by a nationally recognized portrait artists. Please contact us for more information.

The 2nd annual Easter Bunny Benefit for the Humane Society Mountain Shelter was a huge success. It was held on 3/24/07 and $1200 was raised for the animal shelter that serve Towns and Union County. It was great fun for the whole family (4 legged furry members too) and it was for a great and worthy cause. We will have a 3rd annual benefit for the humane society in 2008, however it will be held in conjunction with July the 4th.

Here is Doreen London with Simon who attended the Halloween Benefit for the Good Samaritan Fund in 2006 and 2007.  Simon came as a "little devil" in 2006 and won the Most Scariest award.  He also was given the most courageous distinction as the only feline entry surrounded by a bunch of canine contestants

Here is Judy Balter with Killer and son Mark with his new pet that he adopted at the Easter Humane Society benefit. Judy operates Affordable Pet Care out of Atlanta which is a group animal health benefit plan that offers discounted fees for many pet services and products including veterinary medicine. They were major sponsors of the Easter Bunny benefit and took this puppy home with them. Many thanks to Judy and her capable staff who provide a very valuable service throught APC.

We had a huge turnout at the 10/27/07 Second Annual Halloween Costume Contest for Pets to benefit the John Todd Jr. Memorial Good Samaritan Fund where we raised over $1800  and adopted out 4 homeless pets.

Here is Falconer Ed Figueroa with his Red-Tail Hawk, Skylar. Ed and Skylar were a major hit at the Easter Bunny benefit.

Here is some of the LCAH staff who hosted the Halloween Costume Benefit for the Good Samaritan Fund (Standing in back is Justin Lee (Managing Veterinary Technician). In front second from left to right is Pam Cowperthwaite (Veterinary Assistant), Laura Wilson (Receptionist), Matt Wilson (Laura's husband and Computer and IT Consultant), Becky Harwood (local groomer), Lisa Perry (Office Manager), Susan Burr (Hospital Administrator), and Dr. Burr
